Horrors of Spider Island

Ein Toter hing im Netz

1960

Fritz Böttger
Director
(as Jaime Nolan)

Planeload of dancing girls crashes en route to Singapore and washes ashore on an isolated island. Unfortunately, said island has been the site of a professor's experiments with uranium, which somehow has created giant spiders. Thus, horror.

Absurd German nudie-cutie/monster hybrid that suffers further from quite bad English dubbing that turns the whole thing into excellent fodder for MST3K. Valentin and Franck deserved better vehicles, at least. Features probably the most hilariously inept airplane crash in all of cinematic history, but then the plane was flying over New York, en route from LA to Singapore, so maybe it was for the best it crashed.

Note: BFI claims that Robert Raglan is playing the radio operator, but it's clearly not him.
